Is the 7000 year theory correct, in that after the 6000 year timeline of earth's history, Jesus would return at the second coming to start the 1000 year millennium?

7000 Year Theory

This is a very interesting study, that when added to other signs of the end times, shows us we are very soon going to see the second coming of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

God's Word gives us the lifespan of Biblical people, i.e. Adam, Abraham, etc..., therefore, we can come up with approx. Timelines as follows:

Creation    -    4004 BC

Time of the Fathers (2000 years)

Abraham    -    2004 BC

Time of the Jews (2000 years)

Jesus Christ    -    4 BC

Time of the Church (2000 years)

Second Coming of Jesus    -    1997 ---- ?

Start of the Millennial Sabbath Rest (1000 years)

So, according to this, the earth will have 6000 years and then Jesus will return to start the 1000 year 'millennium' rest. Let's take a look at bible verses that could have this prophetic meaning.  All the following verses have their own meaning, but I'm looking at the additional prophetic symbolism behind these verses.

We know from the creation account, that God created the heaven and earth in 6 days and rested on the 7th...... Genesis 2:1-2 ....' Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them, and on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.'

And this leads us onto the 4th Commandment:

Exodus 20:8-11 …..' Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.  Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:  But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:  For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.' …..So we have six days of work and then the seventh day brings REST!

Joshua 6:2-5 ….' And the LORD said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thine hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valour.  And ye shall compass the city, all ye men of war, and go round about the city once. Thus shalt thou do six days.  And seven priests shall bear before the ark seven trumpets of rams' horns: and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the trumpets.  And it shall come to pass, that when they make a long blast with the ram's horn, and when ye hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall ascend up every man straight before him.' ….This is where Joshua takes Jericho, by God's power. Notice they march around the city once a day for 6 days, and then on the seventh day, they march seven times, the trumpet is blown long and loud, and they take the city. It's interesting that this verse says that they 'ascend up' into the city. That's what we will do when Jesus returns, we will ascend up and then inhabit the city (New Jerusalem). Also notice that on the seventh day, the priests blow seven trumpets and on the last blast of the trumpet, they take the city ….. take a look at the following verses from the New Testament:

Matthew 24:31 ….' And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.'

1 Corinthians 15:52 ....' In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.'

1 Thessalonians 4:16 ....' For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:'

Revelation 8:2 ...' And I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets.'

These verses above are all to do with the end and the Second Coming, and these events are signaled by the sound of trumpets, like the ones in Joshua.  Jesus will return at the 'last trump'. It was the last trump in Joshua that signaled the city being given over to the people.  See the second coming of Christ for further study on this.

Exodus 24:16 ….' And the glory of the LORD abode upon mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days: and the seventh day he called unto Moses out of the midst of the cloud.' ..... Moses goes up the mountain to receive the ten Commandments from God. Notice that the cloud covered the mountain 6 days, and on the 7th day, God called out to Moses to 'come up.'

Mark 9:2 ....' And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them.' .....So, after 6 days, on the 7th day Jesus and these three apostles ascended up a high mountain, where Jesus was transfigured.

Yes it's true that these are just single days, not thousand years, but if we look at the following verses, we can see that it is all the same to God:

Psalm 84:10 ....' For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand.'

2 Peter 3:8 ....' But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.'

So, although they are just single days, they could very well have a symbolic meaning of a thousand years.

Also we have the following that could have the same symbolic meaning:

Leviticus 25:4 ….' But in the seventh year shall be a sabbath of rest unto the land, a sabbath for the LORD: thou shalt neither sow thy field, nor prune thy vineyard.' ..... So the land was worked for 6 years and during the 7th year it had a Sabbath rest, where no work was done in it. This could be symbolic of the earth being worked for 6000 years and then getting a Sabbath rest of 1000 years during the millennium.

Note: Jesus is the sower in the parable in Matthew 13. The harvest is the end of the world, where the angels reap with a sickle. So, the Word of God could be sown for 6000 years, and then Jesus will return with His angels to harvest the crop, and then the earth would receive it's Sabbath rest for 1000 years.

Exodus 21:2 …' If thou buy an Hebrew servant, six years he shall serve: and in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing.' ..... A servant was only bound for 6 years of work, then on the 7th, he was set free.

You could say that the 6000 years expired around 1997 and yet Jesus hasn't returned! That would be correct, but if we take a look at the following verses, we can see that Jesus is delaying His return:

Matthew 24:46-51 …..' Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.  Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.  But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;  And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;  The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,  And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.'

Matthew 25:1-5 …..' Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.  And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.  They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:  But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.  While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.'

Exodus 32:1 ….' And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.' ....This obviously is Moses, not Jesus, but it could have the same symbolic meaning behind it.

2 Peter 3:8-9 ….' But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.  The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.'

So, we can see from these verses that Jesus could be delayed, waiting for as long as He will, so that as many people as possible turn to Him before He returns. Why is He waiting for people? Because once He returns, there are no second chances. Judgment is set!

One important thing for us is not to 'spiritually' fall asleep, thinking that Jesus is delayed and isn't going to return for a long time. We must stay awake, we must study His Word, including end times prophecy and watch for the signs of the end times and His second coming. I believe we are living in the very last days!
